Help us to harvest surplus fruits and vegetables and redirect
these nutrient-dense resources to Colorado families and residents!
Volunteers are the heart and soul of UpRoot’s work. We organize—and rely on—volunteers to harvest (glean) surplus fruits and vegetables from farms, orchards, and fruit trees across Colorado. The food we glean is donated to hunger-relief programs across the state, including food banks, food pantries, and other food access initiatives, making fresh, locally-grown, nutrient-dense food more accessible to Coloradans who are currently facing nutrition insecurity.
While helping to make fresh food more accessible to Coloradans who do not currently have sufficient access to it, volunteers also have the opportunity to learn about and reconnect with their local food system through gleaning.
